I purchased a Sony Xperia SP C5302 in Flipkart on 03.08.14. From march on wards there was a complaint of one side call and frequent hanging. The same was notified to sony service and update was given though internet. From July 17th on wards the same issue started and again I was asked to update the handset at the service station. I visited the service center and the phone was returned back on 22.08.15. The phone worked for 2 days and went dead. I took it to the service center again who checked the phone and told mother board is problem and the repairing cost is Rs.10,000/-! The handset itself was purchased for Rs.15,600/- and in 1 year 20 days the repairing cost is Rs.10,000/-. The service center gave the reason for ,mother board failure is due to liquid ingression in the estimation. But when the same was notified to sony by email and objected the work order was generated and reason for failure changed from “failure due to liquid ingression” to “liquid ingression subject to check”. The handset was checked by another Technician at the same service center who confirmed that there is nothing wrong in the handset and mother board is the problem.With out checking the handset the service center informed that the handset failure is due to Liquid ingression and when objected the same was changed.
Now after corresponding with Sony for almost a week about this issue, they have informed that the mother board has to be changed on cost @ Rs.10,000/- as the handset warranty of 1 year is over.
How can a mother board fail in one year 20 days in such a reputed brand with out any reason?. They claim electronics items cannot be guaranteed. The reason for spending 15,600 rupees on a reputed brand like sony is because of the trust and belief we have in the brand name and expectation that the handset will work with out any issues for at least 3 years. Please note I also have handsets from Samsung, htc and Motorola which are more than 3 years old.
Now repairing the handset for Rs.10,000/- doesn’t make any sense as new phones with better configuration is available for the repairing cost of this handset.
I request you to help me to repair the handset on free of charge and also possibilities to file a case against Sony for making such low quality products and putting the customer is hardship and mental stress.
