Unethical behaviour of Indigo Airlines staff
Reported By: Dr Amulya Kumar Mo
Sir/Madam, I am a regular flyer and a regular customer of Indigo with a good impression about the airline. Recently I had a worst experience with Indigo airlines service. On 22nd August, 2018 myself (Mr. A. K. Mohanty) and my daughter (Miss Vidisha) were returning from Bhubaneswar to Kochi via Bengaluru. we had booked the flight tickets (PNR No. IB652C) from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru in flight No. 6E3869 and from Bengaluru to Kochi in flight No. 6E7223; for which I had also acquired the boarding pass from BBI Airport up to Kochi (enclosed). Myself and my daughter had also security checked in to board the flight (6E3869) for Bengaluru to catch the connecting flight (6E 7223) for Kochi Naval Base. We were really in a tense as my family (my wife and son) were stuck up in Kochi due to the devastating flood situation in Kerala. Till 9.25 p.m. on 22 Aug., 2018 as per my enquiry from the Indigo Call office, all the above said flights were in schedule. It is very sorry and surprising to note that in BBI Airport, two so called staff of Indigo Airlines namely Mr. Sandeep Gupta and Ms Silvy Pattanayak approached me and influenced me through my daughter to cancel my tickets from Bengaluru to Kochi (6E7223) claiming that the flight is not operating in that sector. When I replied them that I do not have any official correspondence either through mail or SMS from Indigo Airlines, moreover I had already been issued boarding passes by your office and we have also checked in, but they did not pay any heed to my words. They tried to even frighten my daughter that you may not able to reach Kochi. Mr. Sandeep Gupta and Ms Silvy Pattanayak threatened us to come out of the security check in or else your tickets will be cancelled. It was also very urgent for me to reach at Kochi to see my family. Then we were in queue to board the flight from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru (6E3869). In the mean time, the Indigo people cancelled both of our boarding passes without our consent. If I would have received an official communication from Indigo regarding cancellation, in that case I would have opted to go Bengaluru first and from there I might have tried for any other means to reach at Kochi. Instead the two unprofessional and undisciplined Indigo officials (Mr. Sandeep Gupta and Ms Silvy Pattanayak) illegally and forcefully changed our flights and diverted through Delhi up to Trivandrum as per their wishes even though we had the boarding pass for the scheduled flights. This shows the autocratic and callous attitude of the Indigo Airlines officials towards the passengers. As, I was with my daughter who was suffering from fever, I could not deny also, but I faced a lot of troubles to reach at Kochi on 23rd August, 2018 at around 9.00 p.m. and also missed some important assignments. Along with me one more passenger Mr. K Tulsai Das was also having the same fate like me. To my utter surprise, when we approached the Indigo Manager Mr. Ankur at Delhi Airport T-1 and enquired the status of flight Bengaluru to Kochi (6E7223), we came to know that the flight was in schedule and it was also full in capacity (Print shot attached). In that case the question comes to mind, if at all the flight was cancelled, how did not we receive any official information from the airlines, and how the boarding passes were issued by the airline and if it is not meant for passengers like us whose families were stuck up at Kochi, then how the same seats were allotted to some people by Indigo Airlines through some backdoor dealings. Deceiving the passengers for some unethical willful intention shows the unprofessionalism and unscrupulous act of Indigo Airlines for which it may lose the credibility of the customers in future. In spite of several mails and phone calls, this matter has not been viewed seriously by the Indigo Airline and the concerned staff have not been penalized to restrain from unlawful activities in future. Rather they are boastfully telling me “to give a complain if you want”. This is really very unfortunate and pathetic. Please look into the matter genuinely.
