must see some fraud in the future, because they’ve issued a warning about some self-proclaimed astrologers and psychics taking advantage of vulnerable clients.
Black magic, witchcraft, healing ceremonies, and financial rewards are all in the magic circle of trouble concerning police.
Victims are appearing across Canada, including Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver. Clients have paid between $2,000 and $15,000 to these self-proclaimed fortune tellers. In one case, a family paid $85,000 before the fraudsters left the country; no arrests were made. Edmonton cops have been receiving complaints since April.
Edmonton police and the Canadian Border Service Agency are working to remove the fraudsters from Canada and bar them from future visits.
“It is difficult to track these alleged fraudsters,” said Const. Harpreet Jhinjar. “Often, these individuals are on a visitor’s visa and quickly disappear when they believe they could be caught.”
Many people have sought the services of astrologers and psychics to help solve family and business issues, said cops.
“You do not have to feel embarrassed,” said Jhinjar. “These fraudsters are experienced and have stolen money from a lot of people. If you have been scammed, it’s important to report the incident to police immediately so there is a higher chance of locating the suspects.”
